Summer of Serving

During the summer, over 35 Oklahomans will make the 8,000-mile journey to Kenya. Six teams will stay at Maisha for various periods of time, ranging from two weeks to two months, serving the community and making a difference in the lives of children and widows.

Although each indivudual team will help with different areas, the main goal for the summer is to update the Legacy of Hope Sponsorship Project. Each day, members of the Maisha team will be asking the children questions and gathering information to share with their sponsors at the end of the summer.

All 608 sponsored children will have their picture taken, have a success story written about them and write a letter to their sponsor.

The June teams will assist with all Maisha projects, including the feeding projects and the Maisha Academy.

The first July team will be from Vintage Church and will be putting on a baseball camp. The children will attend classes and learn to hit, catch and throw. At the end of the week, there will be a scrimmage game and the entire village will be invited to watch and cheer on the children.

The second July team will also be from Vintage and will focus on throwing a Widow’s Appreciation Luncheon. They will also put on dance and drama classes for the children.

In the Oklahoma office, the summer will revolve around the Christmas Box Project. In order to get the boxes to Kenya in time for Christmas, filled boxes are due Aug. 7. Boxes can be picked up in the office by calling 405-445-3440.

Please join us in praying for our summer mission teams.
