Bringing hope and light

Maisha Project is committed to bringing hope to the hopeless and light to the darkness. Our mission is to transform lives and empower communities by providing lasting solutions to address poverty, hunger, disease and under-education. We extend a heartfelt THANK YOU for being a part of Maisha in 2020!

2020 Highlights

Thank you for your faithful giving in 2020—which was by far the most difficult year since our founding, and probably in all of our lives. But despite the many overwhelming obstacles thrown in our path, together, we pivoted where needed and continued to impact the lives of so many vulnerable children and families during a global pandemic. Here are some of the highlights:

First water well ever!!!

We drilled the first water well ever in Lobolo Village—which is our partner school in Turkana. This will provide about 500 households in the area with lifesaving water and will truly transform this desolate, desperate community.

Over 5,000 masks distributed

We distributed over 5,000 masks throughout Kisumu and Turkana.

Meals for families in need

We provided close to 500,000 emergency, nutritious meals during the pandemic to struggling children and their families throughout Kisumu and Turkana.

Medical Clinic stayed open

We continued to operate our community medical clinic and provide vital healthcare to families in need.

Teachers and social workers unsung heros

Schools remained closed due to the pandemic. But our dedicated teachers instigated a remote-learning program—walking daily to children’s homes, as well as traveling by motorcycle and “tuk tuks” to make sure our kids didn’t fall too far behind. Our teachers and social workers are truly our unsung heroes.

On behalf of The Maisha Project, I would like to thank you for your generosity, love and being an important part of the Maisha Story in 2020. Together, we can continue help the children and communities we serve bounce back from a very painful year, and continue our mission of bringing hope to the hopeless and light to the darkness.

Sincerely,
Beatrice Williamson
