The Light the Future Team is travelling from Maisha in Kenya to Oklahoma this fall!
They will be our Maisha ambassadors on October 18th at Light the Future 2014 (http://lightthefuture.ucpfund.org/), singing and dancing themselves straight into your heart.
Most importantly, they’ll have an opportunity to tell you their own story and the profound effect Maisha, as well as the Oklahoma community, has had on their life and hope for a brighter future. Each one will represent the over 600 children who participate in our projects. Rose, pictured below is one who has been greatly impacted since coming to Maisha. Don’t you want to hear the story behind that beautiful smile?
While in Oklahoma, the team will visit several sister schools where they’ve been communicating with pen pals and engaging in global activities learning about each other’s cultures. What an amazing opportunity to get to meet in person!
Additionally, our partner churches (most who’ve served in missions at Maisha in Kenya) have invited the Light the Future Team to come sing, dance and share their stories with their congregations.
They’ll experience Okie culture as well as they take field trips to the OKC Zoo, Chickasaw Cultural Center, a Thunder game and more! As the weather turns cooler towards the end of November, they’ll return to the warmth of Kenya and carry all they learn home to continue as leaders in their own community.
You won’t want to miss seeing the Light the Future Choir! Plan on attending the Light the Future Gala October 18th or check our events calendar at https://www.maishaproject.org/events to greet them at a church near you.
