Water & Sanitation
We are happy to report the completion of several water and sanitation projects to ensure health and safety: a deep source well, a septic system and restrooms with flush-toilets, a kitchen with running water and dining facility to feed over 600 each day including a sanitary dishwashing station, a solar pumped water storage tank and hand washing stations.
Upcoming projects are adding drip irrigation to the crops in the Shambas of Maisha that are currently painstakingly hand watered. A small investment here will enhance crop yields, maximize the efforts of our staff and allow us to expand the gardens. Plans are in place to build an overall system to harvest and store rainwater, creating a sustainable water supply for generations to come.
Implementing these further water and sanitation solutions is important to Maisha. We aim to increase our partnerships and donor base to improve life through access to clean water and sanitation.
